The Greek debt crisis and your holiday We have fielded a number of calls recently from clients nervous about how the current Greek debt crisis will affect their holiday. The simple answer is that we doubt very much you will notice any change during your sailing cruise. The Greek people’s personal daily lifes will doubtless be adversely affected with higher taxes and public sector cuts (sounds familiar!) but this should not impact visitors. Since November 19th 2011, for the first time in 30 years, there is a consensus multiparty government in Greece. This should help avoid social trouble in the big city centers. The Greek islands will anyway remain peaceful as usual.
What is the weather like in the Greek islands? MAY-JUNE: hectic free islands, long days, moderate winds, pleasant temperatures (average 21°C | 69 F), cool sea water (average 19°C | 66 F).
JULY-AUGUST: peak season, breezy, cloudless, temperatures (average 25°C | 77 F), sea water (average 21°C | 69 F).
SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER: summer without crowds, moderate winds, temperatures (average 25°C | 77 F), sea water (average 22°C | 71 F), possibility of showers late October.
How do I best get to Paros? The most common way to get to Paros is to fly to Athens, Santorini or Myconos & then continue your trip with a ferry. This takes between approx 4 hours with the slowest boat from Athens (Pireaus and Rafina harbours) up to 40 mins with the fastest boat from Myconos. That's the time range you need to calculate. You may also take a connecting flight from Athens to Paros tiny airport with Olympicair company.
